"Old Fiddle" dessert/starter fork
The "Old Fiddle" cutlery from Robbe & Berking is a classic design. This popular cutlery design dates back to the beginning of the eighteenth century. The design attained its zenith during the Biedermeier period. The cutlery’s distinctive feature is an almost horizontal shoulder and the elongated “spade”. The exceptional skill of the silversmith is shown in the expressive form of the “ears” beneath the bowl. The “spade ears” of this design demand a high level of skilled craftsmanship not possible with an automated grinding process. Consequently, all the work has to be done by hand, a detail that is typical for Robbe & Berking, as is the multi-faceted handle, which makes "Old Fiddle" so unique.
